Gardening Presentations
I’m part horticulturist, part extreme gardener. I inform and engage—but I also make the topic fun by weaving in my own stories.
Below are the gardening presentations that I offer.
Gardening Presentations Offered
Food Gardens in Small Spaces
Grow fruit, vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers in small spaces such as containers, patios, driveways, and small yards.
Food Gardens in Urban Landscapes
Plan an edible garden that is aesthetically pleasing, productive, and fits into an urban neighbourhood.
Food Gardens as a Family
Slow down, grow a food garden, and have fun as a family as you get young gardeners excited about food gardening.
Food Gardens with Fun Crops
Get crop and cooking ideas for an array of unusual, fun, and delicious edible crops.
Food Gardens with Fruit
Forget fussy fruit trees and plant easy-to-grow, often-overlooked fruit crops.
Garden Credentials
I speak from the heart when it comes to gardening. I'm a life-long gardener and have gardened wherever I have lived—with allotment gardens, container gardens, indoor gardens, and gardens hacked out of the overgrown backyards of rented houses.
Along with an agricultural science degree, my work experience spans plant propagation, greenhouses, biological controls, nursery and conservatory plants, and horticultural supplies.
Presentations Suited to the Audience
As a horticulturist, life-long gardener, and journalist, I have a knack for taking the barrage of gardening information that’s out there and translating it into practical, no-nonsense advice.
Audience Engagement
I help your audience learn and have fun.
I believes a good talk is more than slides with bullet points and pictures: It brings together good content with engaging delivery.
I enjoy bringing out the energy in larger groups, and equally enjoy the intimacy that smaller groups allow.
“Hi Steven, I just wanted to say how inspiring and amusing your talk was last night. I—and I’m sure the whole audience—enjoyed it a lot. I went home wanting to turn my front yard flowers into vegetables.”
“You have inspired me to grow a fig tree ”
